Abstract

The term "carbon footprint" for products refers to the mass of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted due to the production, use and disposal of a product. Thus, studies on the carbon footprint of products account for emissions from a set of processes related to a product's life cycle (PANDEY et al., 2011). The work analyzes in a bibliometric way how the carbon footprint is made in the peanut production chain. To this end, a qualitative research was carried out on selected articles, where more pressing sustainability issues were observed, with regard to the depletion of fossil energy resources and the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere (GHG), such as carbon dioxide (CO2). This study aimed to find studies on the carbon footprint of peanuts in the SCOPUS scientific base. The results show that studies on the subject are incipient, and that only 20 publications have been made in the last 10 years, showing more research on the impact of greenhouse gases on peanut production.
