Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and emotional changes that impair quality of life and functionality. This study aimed to assess the quality of life and functionality of patients with fibromyalgia, identifying factors associated with disease-related limitations. This is an exploratory, descriptive, quantitative field study conducted with 13 women participating in a fibromyalgia and lupus support group linked to the academic activities of the Integrative Project II course. Non-probability convenience sampling was used. Data were collected using a sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire, the Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), the Brazilian version of the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ-Br), and the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0). Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS, version 31. The results showed that 53.8% of participants were unemployed, 61.5% reported poor sleep quality, and 92.3% reported anxiety and depression. Regarding quality of life, 30.7% experienced partial impairment, while 30.7% had preserved quality of life. Concerning functionality, 61.5% presented severe impairment, while 69.2% experienced a severe or very severe impact of fibromyalgia. It is concluded that the syndrome significantly affected the participants’ functionality and daily lives, although perceptions of quality of life varied. The findings highlight the importance of individualized physiotherapy assessment and a multidisciplinary approach that considers the physical, emotional, and social aspects of the disease.
