Abstract

This article discusses the internationalization of technical high school education and  higher education and its implementation at the Instituto Federal Farroupilha (IFFar), focusing on the actions developed by the Núcleo de Ações Internacionais (NAI) and the Language Center at the São Vicente do Sul Campus. The study combines a literature review on internationalization, internationalization at home, academic mobility, interculturality and additional language learning with an analytical account of institutional actions. The research project investigates the contribution of the Language Center to widening access to internationalization experiences. Actions include English and Spanish courses, English language tutoring, reception and integration of international students, revision of institutional documents related to the Internationalization Support Program (PAINT), an academic mobility support call, participation of NAI members in international events with paper presentations, and participation in Campus Day, welcoming visiting schools. The article argues that internationalization should not be restricted to physical mobility abroad, but understood as an institutional process integrating international and intercultural dimensions into teaching, research, extension and academic life.
