ARBOVIRAL DISEASES AND VACCINE HESITANCY: CHALLENGES FOR IMMUNIZATION, EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE, HEALTH COMMUNICATION, AND ADDRESSING CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL HEALTH

Arboviruses and vaccine hesitancy: challenges for immunization, epidemiological surveillance, health communication, and addressing climate change in the context of global health represent one of the main contemporary challenges for public health systems. This study is a literature review that analyzes the relationship between the expansion of arboviral diseases, declining confidence in vaccines, epidemiological surveillance strategies, health communication, and the impacts of climate change on the transmission dynamics of these diseases. The methodology was based on the analysis of scientific publications, technical documents, and national and international guidelines related to the prevention, monitoring, and control of arboviral diseases. The findings indicate that rising temperatures, changes in rainfall patterns, and unplanned urbanization favor vector proliferation, while vaccine hesitancy compromises the effectiveness of immunization campaigns and increases population vulnerability. The study also found that integrated actions involving epidemiological surveillance, health education, evidence-based communication, and strengthened public policies contribute to improving vaccine uptake and reducing the burden of arboviral diseases. It is concluded that addressing these challenges requires intersectoral strategies that integrate health, science, education, and sustainability, strengthening global responses to the health impacts of climate change.
