AESTHETIC SMILE REHABILITATION

The pursuit of increasingly predictable aesthetic outcomes has driven the integration of various dental specialties into the planning and execution of treatments. In this context, an interdisciplinary approach—combining Orthodontics, Periodontics, and Restorative Dentistry—serves as a key strategy for the aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of a patient's smile. This paper presents a literature review on the importance of an integrated approach among these specialties for correcting occlusal irregularities, harmonizing gingival tissues, and achieving aesthetic rehabilitation through composite resin restorations. The literature indicates that orthodontic treatment enables proper tooth positioning and the correction of occlusal issues, while periodontal procedures facilitate the harmonization of gingival contours and the lengthening of clinical crowns. Furthermore, Restorative Dentistry allows for the replication of natural tooth structures, as well as the correction of irregularities in tooth shape, proportion, size, and color. It is concluded that the synergy between these specialties contributes significantly to achieving more predictable and long-lasting aesthetic, functional, and biological outcomes, thereby promoting oral health, functional balance, and patient satisfaction.
