Abstract

This study analyzes the contribution of schools to the early prevention of factors associated with cardiovascular risk during childhood and adolescence. A qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary study with a descriptive-analytical approach was conducted based on scientific publications, guidelines, and institutional documents concerning child and adolescent health. The analysis indicates that cardiovascular alterations may begin early in life and are associated with multiple determinants, including excess weight, physical inactivity, sedentary behavior, and inadequate nutrition. Within the school environment, accessible physical activities, food education, balanced use of technologies, and continuous health promotion initiatives represent relevant opportunities for intervention. The findings also show that social inequalities influence opportunities for health care, requiring initiatives that consider students’ different living conditions. It is concluded that schools can strengthen cardiovascular protection without assuming clinical responsibilities, particularly when educational initiatives are coordinated with families, communities, and health services through integrated and sustained preventive practices.
