THE PARADOX OF THE SOVEREIGN INTERNATIONAL: STRUCTURAL LIMITS OF TRANSNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE EXTREME RIGHT IN MATTER OF WAR AND TRADE

The emergence of a transnational far-right network and the strengthening of intercontinental alliances among sovereignist leaders have sparked debates on the rise of a new "Conservative International." This article analyzes the structural antinomy inherent in this phenomenon: the contradiction between building transnational bridges and the ideological imperative of nationalism, which rejects integration structures and the surrender of sovereignty. Through a comparative case study focused on contemporary far-right governments and movements, this research investigates the behavior of this network across two critical arenas of friction: defense geopolitics (emphasizing discursive and strategic divergences regarding the War in Ukraine) and international trade policy (focusing on the clash between nationalist protectionism and economic integration). Drawing on a qualitative analysis of documentary triangulation — encompassing diplomatic speeches, joint declarations at transnational forums (such as CPAC and the Madrid Charter), and positions within multilateral bodies —, this study demonstrates that the "Conservative International" operates under a variable geometry logic. The article concludes that far-right cooperation is highly effective at the electoral, discursive, and "culture war" levels, yet unsustainable as a global governance project or a cohesive geopolitical bloc, running up against the structural limits set by national self-interest.
