THE SOCIAL ROLE OF MYTH IN ANCIENT GREECE

Abstract

Given the significant role that Greek mythology plays in the culture and structure of Western society today, this article focuses on the social role of myth in ancient Greece. Its objectives are to understand the influence of myth in ancient Greece, present relevant data on mythological constructs, analyze mythological thought, understand the social context of ancient Greek society, and reflect on the enduring influence of mythological thought. Furthermore, it delves into the theoretical scope of cultural research, data sources for understanding ancient myths, and the close connection between mythology and the religious context. This study is based on qualitative bibliographic research, which provides access to reliable information and data, drawing on research from renowned authors who have provided valuable insights and insights into this topic. The guiding question for data collection was: What was the influence of mythological thought on ancient Greek society? For better understanding, the article is subdivided into topics: mythology and society; mythology and religion; sources of Greek mythology; origin of Greek mythology; mythology and culture, in addition to the analysis of the data presented previously. Therefore, based on a scientific foundation grounded in reputable references, the relevant concluding remarks and the list of the article's basic references are described at the end.
