Analysis of areas at risk of urban flooding and landslides in three neighborhoods in the municipality of Jundiaí / SP

Inadequate land use results in serious environmental damage to the population, such as floods and landslides, in addition to causing social and economic losses. The objective of this study was to analyze the areas at risk of urban floods and landslides in three neighborhoods in the municipality of Jundiaí / SP, in order to contribute to the discussion on the actions already implemented, in addition to recommendations that serve as a starting point for future formulations of public policies. The studied neighborhoods were Jd. Tamoio, Jd. das Tulas and Jd. São Camilo. The methodology adopted involved the contextualization and recognition of areas, risk identification; sectorization / zoning / mapping; field visits and intervention proposals. Irregular occupations are among the most significant anthropic conditions in triggering risk. Important interventions have already been carried out by the Municipal Civil Defense - installation of the hydraulic ladder, swimming pools and warning system, resulting in significant improvements. However, the number of families, the scope of the neighborhoods and the conditions of the occupations bring complexity and the need for more interventions. Finally, it proposes as essential measures: education and awareness of the local population about the risks of disposing of rubbish and rubbish in inappropriate places, as well as for procedures in situations of danger; debris and garbage removal action and cleaning maintenance program; construction of channels to direct rainwater to the hydraulic ladder and the expansion or construction of a new ladder; expansion and maintenance of the sewage network; relocation of families with homes in risk area 4, with subsequent demolition of the facilities and removal of debris, in addition to plant restoration of the area to protect the soil, mitigate the degree of risk in these areas and, finally, the installation of a sound system of alerts you when there is a danger of landslides and floods.
